Toronto man sentenced to life in prison for deadly Vaughan café shooting
A Toronto man has been sentenced to life in prison for a deadly 2014 shooting at a café in Vaughan.
David Odesho, 27, was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison for second-degree murder and eight years for aggravated assault. The sentences are concurrent and Odesho is eligible for parole after 15 years.
A jury found him guilty on Feb. 15.
Back in June 2014, York Regional Police named Odesho as the suspect in a "targeted shooting" at a Vaughan café on Woodstream Boulevard, near Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road.
Following a 911 call on the night of June 6 that year, police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds at the café.
One man, Sarhad Sadiq, 36, of Nobleton, Ont., died at the scene. The other man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and police have not released his name.
York police said Odesho turned himself in to police on June 8, 2014. He was arrested and initially charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
