Toronto mayoral election signs installed by campaigns
An army of volunteers set out after midnight Thursday and began putting up lawn signs for each of Toronto’s mayoral candidates.
Thursday marks the first official day campaigns are legally permitted to begin installing the signs.
Doug Ford was spotted with his campaign workers in Etobicoke, while volunteers for Olivia Chow and John Tory were seen starting the long, gruelling night in North York and East York, respectively. Tory’s volunteers told CBC News they intended to place signs on every major intersection in the city.
“You know, despite all of the online tools that are now in campaigns, good old, old fashioned door knocking and signs and talking to people at transit stops is a really important part of any election campaign,” said Jamey Heath, communications director for Chow.
