A man in Toronto police custody suffered minor injuries on Saturday when a police cruiser was rear-ended on Saturday morning on the Gardiner Expressway.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said the incident occurred in the Gardiner's eastbound lanes at the Jameson Avenue exit at about 10:40 a.m.

The officer whose vehicle was rear-ended by a car notified police.

"There are no reports of serious injuries," she said.

Two eastbound lanes of the Gardiner are blocked.

Toronto paramedics came to the scene to assess the prisoner, but no one has been transported to hospital, she said.

"He's complaining of minor injuries," she said.

Airbags in the police vehicle were deployed, she said.
