Toronto police release description of Pelham Park homicide suspect

Toronto police have released information about a suspect wanted in the death of a 47-year-old man in the west end.

Toronto paramedics, fire and police arrived at the scene near Davenport and Old Weston Roads at about 2:40 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a call. Police said they found the victim suffering from severe head injuries.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene by Toronto Paramedic Services, and a post-mortem that was performed on the victim on Friday revealed that he died due to multiple blunt-force trauma injuries.

Police are now asking for the public's help in finding the suspect, 46-year-old Anthony Brake, who is wanted for second-degree murder.

Brake has been described as male, white, five foot nine inches tall, 300 pounds, with salt and pepper hair and a goatee.

Victim, suspect knew each other

They said Brake is known to frequent the Kensington Market area, but if seen, members of the public should not approach him. Police say they should call 911 instead.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim because they haven't yet notified his next-of-kin, but they have revealed that the victim was of no fixed address.

Information on how long police believe the victim was dead before he was found also hasn't been released, but Homicide Det. Robert North said in a news conference on Saturday that it wasn't long before police were notified.

North said police believe Brake and the victim had been acquaintances for a long time.

But North declined to say how many possible witnesses there might be and have said no weapons have been recovered.
