Toronto street to be renamed Jack Layton Way

Toronto city council has voted to rename a street after the late Jack Layton.

City council adopted a recommendation Wednesday to rename the Don Jail Roadway as Jack Layton Way after the former MP and city councillor who died in August 2011.

The street was created as part of the Bridgepoint Hospital redevelopment.

Coun. Paula Fletcher and Layton's son Coun. Mike Layton will unveil the street sign at a ceremony on Sunday.
