‘Totally Under Control’ filmmakers discuss the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic

Alex Gibney, Ophelia Harutyunyan and Suzanne Hillinger are the co-directors of the new documentary, “Totally Under Control.” The doc criticizes President Trump and the U.S. government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. “We felt it was important for the American public to see this factual film,” Harutyunyan tells Yahoo Entertainment. “We settled on a theme and that theme was politics versus science,” Gibney adds. The filmmakers claim the Trump administration didn’t listen to scientific evidence and when it came to testing, the U.S. waited too long which caused the virus to spread. “The information was there we just needed to put political differences aside and look at what the administrations before this one had done with the other outbreaks, Harutyunyan says. A day after the movie was completed, Trump himself was diagnosed with COVID-19. “Totally Under Control” is currently on demand and will be streaming on Hulu on Tuesday, October 20.
