New Town Councillor Elected in Cudworth

·2 min read

Following the Municipal Elections held on November 9, 2020, the Council of the Town of Cudworth had a full slate of Councillors. With Councillor Kyle Lingell stepping down from his seat when he moved out of town, that one seat needed to be filled and therefore an election was called.

On Wednesday April 7th, an election was held to fill the vacant seat on Council. Two hundred residents exercised their right to have a say in who makes the decisions in their town, and after all those votes were counted Brittany Organ was declared elected. It was a close race between Brittany and her closest challenger Ryan Palchinski, who received 88 votes to Britanny’s 95. Sheldon Doetzel, the third name on the ballot received 17 votes.

The new Councillor was originally from Saskatoon, but has lived in Cudworth for the past eleven years, graduating from Cudworth school in 2017. Currently working at Yuzdepski’s Pharmacy, Brittany’s Facebook introduction of herself on the Cudworth Saskatchewan Happenings page, to the local voters states that she also has management experience. In an interview with this reporter, Organ stated that she hadn’t thought much about politics before this election presented itself, but she decided to run because she has lived in Cudworth all of her teenage years and she wants to make a difference in the town where she grew into adulthood and where she is now raising a family. Although politics hasn’t been her focus before now, Organ believes this will be a great opportunity to learn how municipal government works. The skill set that she sees herself bringing to the Council are honesty, integrity, and fairness and will strive, she says, to “provide fair insights for the Town of Cudworth and its residents.”

“I believe I ran a fair campaign and the residents of Cudworth know that I will work hard to achieve what is in the best interest of the Town and community.” After winning the election Brittany thanked all those who voted for her and said, “I am honoured to be given this opportunity and I appreciate everyone’s support.” Good luck Councillor Brittany Organ.
