The regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Wakaw was held on Wednesday August 12th in Council Chambers at 121 Main Street, Wakaw, Sk. Members of Council present at the meeting were Mayor Steve Skoworodko, Councilors Greg Boschmann, Gary Harrison, Chad Parenteau, Terry Ostafichuk, and Doug Penner, along with CAO Lois Gartner. Absent from the meeting was Councilor Michael Markowski. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Skoworodko at 7:00 pm. Councilors Chad Parenteau and terry Ostafichuk took part in the meeting via electronic means.
Cllr. Penner moved the Minutes of the regular Council Meeting held on July 8th be approved as read. Crd.
Cllr. Parenteau moved that the correspondence received and being dealt with from (1) Municipal Infrastructure and Finance Funding (ICIP) (2) Lynn Wawryk-Epp request (3) Lakeview Pioneer Lodge regarding AGM/Audit (4) B & B Enforcement Services Report June & July 2020 be filed and Crd.
Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that council support Lynne Wawryk-Epp in the naming of Lac [Ernadene] adjacent to NE 19-42-27 W(2) and forward a letter of support to the Saskatchewan Geographic Names Program. Crd.
Cllr. Boschmann moved that the Accounts Payable in the amount of $386,831.99 be authorized for payment and attached to the official minutes. Crd.
Cllr. Parenteau moved that council contract Dean Hildebrandt as Arena Caretaker at a monthly contract amount of $6000.00 for the 2020/2021 season and the term of the contract to start October 15th, 2020. Crd.
Cllr. Penner moved that council rescind Resolution 103/20. Crd.
Cllr. Harrison moved that council postpone indefinitely the Discretionary Use Hearing for the Cannabis Retail Store in the C1 District due to the new zoning bylaws and community plan project undertaking. Crd
Cllr. Parenteau moved that council authorize the entering into and signing of the Targeted Sector Support Initiative Cost-Shared Grant Funding Agreement. This agreement provides funding to offset costs associated with the Fish Creek Wakaw Planning District Project: Zoning Bylaws and Official Community Plan. Crd.
Cllr. Harrison moved that council acknowledge the review of the water quality records. Crd.
Cllr. Penner moved that arena rates for the 2020/2021 season be set as follows:
Minor Sports $110.00/hr
Adult Sports $130.00/hr
Minor Organized Tournament $890.00/day
Adult Organized Tournament $1050.00/day
Shinny Fees $50.00/person yearly pass
Family Fees $105.00/family yrly pass
Shinny/Public Skate $5.00/time
Out of Town
Minor Sports $145/hr
Adult Sports $175.00/hr
Summer Rental 80% of Winter Rates. Crd.
Cllr. Harrison moved that council acknowledge and accept the review of the Fraud Assessment Report as attached to the official minutes. Crd.
Cllr. Boschman moved that council authorize a rate of $27.00 per hour for the Deputy Returning Officer and $22.00 per hour for the Poll Clerk for the 2020 Municipal Election. Crd.
Cllr. Harrison moved that the meeting be adjourned at 9:00 pm. Crd.
