The regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Wakaw was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Council Chambers – 121 Main Street Wakaw, Sk. The members of the Council present for the meeting were: Mayor Steve Skoworodko, Councillors Greg Boschman, Gary Harrison, Michael Markowski, Terry Ostafichuk, Doug Penner, and Chad Parenteau, and CAO Lois Gartner. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Steve Skoworodko in the Council Chambers at 7:00 pm.
Cllr. Penner moved that the minutes of the regular Council Meeting held on August 12, 2020 be approved as read. Crd.
Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that the CAO’s statement of Financial Activities for the month of August, 2020 be approved as read. Crd.
*Mayor Steve Skoworodko declared a Conflict with regard to Brittanee’s Cozy Dayhome Request and left Chambers at 7:05 pm and returned at 7:15 pm.
Cllr. Markowski moved that the following correspondence being dealt with be filed. Crd.
1) B & B Enforcement Services Bylaw Report
2) Jackie Blakely – Sale of Town Lot Request
3) Brittanee’s Cozy Dayhome Request
Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that the accounts in the amount of $137,720.08 be authorized for payment. Crd. [These accounts are attached to the official minutes.]
Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that Council authorize the purchase of a new Kubota #ZD1511 Zero Turn Mower from Glenmore Equipment in Prince Albert, Sk for a purchase price of $25,207.50, taxes included. Crd.
Cllr. Cllr. Parenteau moved that Council acknowledge the review of the water quality records. Crd.
Cllr. Penner moved that the Tax Enforcement List for 2020 be approved as presented to Council. Crd.
Cllr. Parenteau moved the Council authorize the issuing of the 6-month notice on the following properties:
1) Roll 91 000 – 111 3rd St. N – Lots 12, 13 Block 4
2) Roll 511 000 – 215 6th St. S – Lot 1, Block 3
Cllr. Harrison moved that Council authorize to reschedule the November 11, 2020 regular Council Meeting to November 5, 2020 at 7:00 pm due to the Remembrance Cay Statutory holiday. Crd.
Cllr. Boschman moved that Council approve Building and Development Permit 08/20 house 200 – 1st St. N, Ryan Sawitsky. Crd.
Cllr. Harrison moved that Council approve moving permit #13/20 – Ryan Sawitsky move house – 200 – 1st St. N. The detached delapidated garage located at the back of the property to be removed prior to house being moved on. Crd.
Cllr. Markowski moved that Council approve Building and Development Permit #12/20 Jamie Wright 209 5th St. S – detached garage. Crd.
*Mayor Steve Skoworodko declared a Conflict of Interest and left Chambers at 8:05 pm and returned upon discussion completion at 8:15 pm.
Cllr. Penner moved that Council approve Building and Development Permit #11/20 Wakaw EMS 130 1st St. S – detached garage. Crd.
Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that Council approve a $200.00 per month increase applicable to the Ministry of Central Services for the use of the Courtroom and outer offices within the Municipal Office Building. This increase will bring the monthly amount to $750.00 effective January 1, 2021. The day use rate for extra Court will be $300.00 per day. Crd.
Cllr. Penner moved that Council approve the lease agreement applicable to the Ministry of Central Services for the use of the Wakaw Recreation Centre. Rental rate of $370.00 per use. Crd.
