PUSLINCH – The Township of Puslinch is working towards creating a public access to Puslinch Lake after public access was closed this summer.
Glenn Schwendinger, Puslinch CAO, said by email that the township is working towards possibly using some unused land in the area to create public access to the lake.
“There is an unopened road allowance at the end of Travelled Road and the township is working towards potentially establishing public access,” Schwendinger said in an email.
Schwendinger couldn’t provide any further details about what this potential public access would include.
Travelled Road is a small community off Lake Road, a short distance away from McClintock’s Trailer Resort and Ski School where there used to be a public beach and boat launch.
The owners of McClintock’s chose to close this access in mid-July citing problems with visitors littering, drinking, smoking, behaving dangerously and trying to get to Justin Bieber’s property on the lake.
This was the only legitimate public option for accessing Puslinch Lake and therefore restricted it only to homeowners, trailer park tenants, ski school participants and The Old Marina restaurant patrons.
Jeff Mooney, a Travelled Road resident, noted a potential issue with this location.
“I’m sure this will cause a problem in the neighbourhood as parking will be a major concern,” Mooney said by email. “Residents won’t like all the added traffic since there’s only one way in."
