To infinity and beyond — again!

Disney and Pixar unveiled a first glimpse at the upcoming Toy Story 5 at the D23 Expo event on Aug. 9 in Anaheim, Calif.

"Get excited for their next chapter as Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang all return for #ToyStory5, coming to theaters Summer 2026!" read a message on Pixar's Instagram page.

Toy Story 5 will go “head to head” with what children spend a lot of time on today — electronic devices. Director Andrew Stanton teased onstage at D23, “This time around, it’s toy meets tech. It’s going to be fun, and we can’t wait for you all see it in the summer of 2026."

It seems that after the events of 2019’s Toy Story 4 separated pals Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), the animated toys and many of their friends — as well as some new faces — are in for another adventure.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Toy Story 5 — along with sequels to Frozen and Zootopia — in February 2023. Pete Docter, one of the creators behind the original 1995 film that launched the Toy Story franchise and current chief creative officer of Pixar, teased to The Wrap that Toy Story 5 would “be surprising,” adding at the time, “It’s got some really cool stuff that you haven’t seen before.”

In November, Allen, 71, said the sequel "could be a very, very interesting way to reunite" the franchise's beloved characters. An unnamed screenwriter, according to the Home Improvement star, “said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ ”
