Train strikes and kills person in Stanislaus County. Riverbank officials investigating

A person was struck and killed by a train in Riverbank on Wednesday morning, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision happened at about 10:30 a.m. and closed the intersection of First Street and Patterson Road for a little over an hour.

Sgt. Erich Layton with the Sheriff’s Office said details from an initial investigation would be available sometime in the afternoon. Investigators were trying to identify the person killed.
