Transport truck plows into building near Fredericton roundabout

The Smythe Street roundabout in Fredericton is closed to traffic after a tractor-trailer truck collided with a building Wednesday morning.

The entire cab of the truck was inside the Fredericton Animal Hospital, which is one of the businesses in the building at 1012 Prospect St.

Fredericton police confirmed no people or animals were injured.

Police also confirmed the roundabout at Smythe Street and Highway 8 will be closed until later Wednesday afternoon while the accident reconstruction team investigates.

The Fredericton Animal Hospital said on social media that no animals or staff members were injured.

"Our thoughts are with [the driver's] family, and we sincerely hope they will be OK," the post says. "Due to the extensive damage to the hospital we will be closed until further notice."
