A social media team member from the flight comparison website Skyscanner has become an internet sensation following her smooth response to a customer’s complaint.

It all started when a man named James Lloyd posted a screenshot of his scheduled itinerary on the company’s Facebook page. He was inquiring about a site glitch that suggested he take a 47-year layover at Bangkok’s international airport. Skyscanner showed a 413,786-hour wait for him to catch a connecting flight from New Zealand to London.

“Hi Skyscanner. Just wondering what’d you recommend I do during the 47 year layover your website has suggested,” Lloyd wrote on Facebook.

Jen from Skyscanner’s social team did not disappoint.

In her response, Jen had a little fun and gave Lloyd some suggestions on how to spend those long years outside of the airport. Among them was to “become a Tai Chi expert in Lumpini Park.”

Jen quickly drew a fan base with many other Facebook users chiming in.

One user wrote: “Has no-one noticed that, even with the layover of 47yrs, he then travels back in time and arrives 1 day after he departed? Has Skyscanner invented time travel?”

“This was all an elaborate hoax to divert everyone’s attention from our real plan of time travel,” Jen responded.

It looks like it’s not the first time the site encountered this glitch.

In the comments section, another user posted a screenshot of a layover in Sydney that also lasted 47 years. Naturally, Jen responded in the same amusing manner by providing some suggestions of interesting activities to do in Sydney.

Fortunately for travellers, Skyscanner was being forthright when it comes to their itinerary and indicated it will be a “long wait” before the next flight.
