Which Triangle systems will close year-round schools for Tropical Storm Debby?
Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools will close Thursday as Tropical Storm Debby makes its way through North Carolina, threatening widespread floods.
Some other Triangle school systems are expected to follow suit for their year-round schools that are now in session.
Chapel-Hill Carrboro has also canceled athletics and other student activities both Thursday and Friday.
Tropical Storm Debby is expected to come ashore late Wednesday and Thursday, moving across North Carolina as it dumps rain over already saturated ground.
Gov. Roy Cooper has issued a state of emergency and warned that the flooding risk from Debby will last for several days as the storm trudges further north.
