Photos: Truckers, supporters descend upon Ottawa to protest COVID vaccine mandates

Canadians watched Ottawa in horror as some truckers and their supporters protested the country's COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Police worried things could escalate as some at the rally, now in its third day, held up racist imagery — including a U.S. Confederate flag and swastikas — defaced a Terry Fox statue and reportedly terrorized residents and business of downtown Ottawa.

From his COVID-19 isolation, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the "hateful" convoy.

Trudeau said his government "won't cave to those who engage in vandalism or dishonour the memory of our veterans."
