Trudeau defends new COVID-19 border rules amid questions over who is permitted entry

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended his government's new COVID-19 border rules on Tuesday when asked why fully-vaccinated American tourists would be unable to enter Canada, as Canadians who have received both doses can. He said while the vaccine protects those who are vaccinated, there is still a risk they could pass it to other people, and the government wants to avoid the possibility of transmission in partially-vaccinated people or communities with low vaccination rates.
