Trudeau defends decision to return turbines to Russia after Ukraine’s criticism

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended his government’s decision on Wednesday to return sanctioned natural gas turbines to Russia’s Gazprom, saying sanctions are aimed at Putin and not at Canada’s allies. Germany, which is heavily dependent on Russian natural gas, pressed Canada to return the turbines to Russia after being grounded in Montreal amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
