Trump Declares MAGAfest Destiny in Unhinged ‘Saved by God’ Speech
Donald Trump claimed divine intervention made a gunman miss by inches from shooting him in the head—so that he could in turn save America and deliver its “manifest destiny.”
“I was saved by God to make America great again,” he said in his first speech as president.
After being sworn in as the 47th president of the United States, Trump said he survived a would-be assassin’s bullet because he was destined to return to the White House.
The speech was the second inaugural address by the president—whose first, about “American carnage” was indelibly described as “some weird s---” by former president George W. Bush.
Trump said he had been tested like no other president before winning November’s election.
“The journey to retake our republic has not been an easy one. Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and indeed, to take my life just a few months ago, in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear, but I felt then and believe, even more so now that my life was saved for a reason,” he insisted.
Now Trump says his presidency heralds a new “golden age” for America.
“The vicious, violent unfair weaponization of our government will end,” he told the 600 VIP guests at his inauguration inside the Rotunda on Capitol Hill.
“From this moment on, America’s decline is over,” he continued. “We will be the envy of every nation and will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.
“As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust,” he said. “For many years, a radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens, while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.”
He complained about the response of the Biden administration to the Hurricane in North Carolina in September 2024 and the recent fires in California.
He said his election victory was a mandate to reverse “this horrible betrayal.”
“We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home, while at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad,” he continued.
“It fails to protect our magnificent law-abiding American citizens, but provides sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals.
“All of this will change starting today and it will change very quickly,” he added.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris showed little emotion during the speech. Bill and Hillary Clinton whispered and laughed with each other when Trump mentioned he planned to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Trump said his new term meant that the “decline is over.”
Trump said he will spearhead a “revolution of common sense.” He said his administration would only recognize two genders and would declare a national emergency at the southern border.
“My message to Americans today is that it is time for us to once again act with courage, vigor, and the vitality of history’s greatest civilization,” he said.
He claimed he will give people “back their faith, their wealth, their democracy.”
“Many people thought it was impossible for me to stage such a historic political comeback, but as you see today, here I am, the people have spoken, that something is impossible to do,” he said, concluding his 30-minute speech.
“From New York to Los Angeles, from Philadelphia to Phoenix, from Chicago to Miami, from Houston to right here in Washington, D.C., our country was forged and built by the generation of patriots that gave everything they had for our rights and our freedom. After all we have been through together, we stand on the verge of the four greatest years in American history.”
