Turkish cenbank to keep tight stance for 'extended period'

ISTANBUL, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The Turkish Central Bank said on Thursday it will stick to a tight policy stance for an extended period as it left its key interest rate on hold at 17%, and said more tightening will be delivered if needed.

In a statement after its monetary policy committee meeting, the bank said it decided to maintain the tight monetary policy stance until strong indicators point to a permanent fall in inflation.

The bank will "maintain decisively the tight monetary policy stance for an extended period until strong indicators point to a permanent fall in inflation," its policy committee said. "Additional monetary tightening will be delivered if needed."
