How to turn tornado-harvested peppers into hot sauce

On October 1st, an EF1 tornado tore through Thiara Farms in Flamborough, Ontario, causing about $100,000 worth of damage.

Of that damage, included the farm’s peppers — which were just weeks away from harvest. They laid lifelessly on the debris-filled field.

The Weather Network’s Mark Robinson was out storm chasing that day, and heard about the damage done to the family farm in rural Hamilton. He later reached out to the Thiara’s to offer support — and made the request to allow us to give their beloved peppers a second chance at life.

The Thiara’s were gracious enough to share them with Robinson, who then shipped them across the country to self-proclaimed hot sauce connoisseur, Mia Gordon, in British Columbia.

In the video above, the team demonstrates how 'tornado harvest hot sauce' came to be. Please enjoy (with a glass of milk)!
