Twitter calls Oscars 2021 'incredibly disappointing' following Chadwick Boseman fakeout

The 93rd Academy Awards took place Sunday night and disappointed a lot of viewers, when they rearranged the traditional order of the ceremony and ended the show with the Best Actor category instead of Best Picture. Not only that, but many people thought the point of the rearrangement was to build up the fact that the award was going to Chadwick Boseman who, prior to the Oscars, swept award season for his posthumous performance in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. However, that wasn't the case as the Best Actor award ultimately went to Anthony Hopkins for his role in The Father.

Viewers had a lot to say about Boseman being snubbed, after waiting the entire night to see him win his first Oscar. One person tweeted: "Are you seriously telling me the #Oscars rearranged traditional award presenting order just on the prospect Chadwick would posthumously win Best Actor and have a big celebration for him, only for Hopkins to win and not even be there for a speech so it just... ends??" Despite many viewers finding the show's conclusion "incredibly disappointing," there were some fun moments, like when Judas and the Black Messiah's Daniel Kaluuya expressed gratitude for his parents having sex while accepting his award for Best Supporting Actor. "You got to celebrate life, man. We're breathing, we're walking, it's incredible. It's incredible. My mom met my dad, they had sex. It's amazing. You understand, I'm here. You know what I mean? I'm so happy to be alive," stated Kaluuya.

But the best moment of the night was, hands down, when Best Actress nominee Glenn Close shared that, not only did she recognize the 1988 track "Da Butt" by E.U. (Experience Unlimited), she also knew the signature dance move.
