Twitter helps RNC locate Piper's theft suspect
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says Twitter helped officers catch a thief on Wednesday.
The RNC posted two images to its Twitter feed that had been taken from surveillance video at the Pipers store on Elizabeth Avenue, showing a woman suspected of stealing from the retailer.
Within four hours, the RNC said it had received a tip from someone who recognized the woman.
Police picked up the suspect near Atlantic Place on Water Street in downtown St. John's. She has been charged with theft.
