The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story episode, titled "Don't Ask Don't Tell" focused on two interviews about being gay. One that was extremely public, and one that was literally forced into the shadows.
Gianni Versace (Edgar Ramirez) told sister Donatella Versace (Penélope Cruz) that he wanted to go public with his sexuality and, when she asked "Why now?" He responded, "I was sick. And I didn't die. I have a second chance. It's a miracle that I'm alive. And yet, I ask myself every day, what have I done to deserve this? Why am I still here? To be afraid? No. I'm alive and I must use it." Meanwhile, in the episode, Navy officer Jeff Trail told at-the-time friend Andrew Cunanan, "I can't explain it. It's something I need to do. I can't explain it any better than that.
The episode ultimately culminated into a scene featuring a side-by-side comparison of both Versace and Trail's interviews, and fans on Twitter were loving the creative edit, which seamlessly drew the parallel between two vastly different men, Gianni Versace and Jeff Trail.
