Two 15-year-old boys arrested after teen killed in Gulfport shooting, police say
Two teenagers were arrested Saturday after a Gulfport girl died in a shooting in the Bayou View neighborhood, police said.
Gulfport Police Sgt. Jason Ducré said officers were called to the 400 block of Kahler Street and found Alexis McLaurin, 19, dead from a gunshot wound.
Police said Kavion Dakari Hannibal and Desean Curtis Cooper, both 15, were mishandling a gun went it went off, killing McLaurin.
Hannibal and Cooper are each charged with one count of manslaughter. Both were taken to the Harrison County jail, where they are each held on a $1 million bond.
McLaurin’s killing was one of two fatal shootings on the Coast early Saturday morning. One person is dead and multiple people were shot in the 200 block of McDonnell Avenue in Biloxi. No arrests have been made yet in that case.
