Some Norfolk County residents chose to celebrate Boxing Day literally by getting into a fight at a motel in Delhi that resulted in assault and weapons charges.

Police say the dust-up started as an argument involving four people at the James Street motel just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 26.

The dispute turned violent, and two people were allegedly threatened and assaulted with unspecified weapons.

A 25-year-old Norfolk woman faces one count of assault with a weapon as well as several charges related to weapon possession.

A 31-year-old man from Norfolk was also arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, as well as theft under $5,000.

The pair will appear in Simcoe court to answer to the charges.
