Two containers lifted out of Apex Saturday evening from Friday night spill

Two shipping containers lost from an NEAS vessel were fished out of the water as the sun set over Apex in Frobisher Bay Saturday afternoon.

Twenty containers of “assorted freight” had been mislaid the night before off a sealift barge near Iqaluit. The territorial government had told citizens and marine traffic to be on the lookout as they washed ashore, according to CBC.

Three container lifts were on scene near the cemetery in Apex. One container had already been moved out, and two vessels circling the bay were attempting to corral the second sea can.

No other details are known or have been provided by either NEAS or the territorial government as of Saturday evening.
