Two MS Coast teens arrested after shooting death of 17 year old in Jackson County

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two teens on murder and accessory charges in the shooting death of a 17-year-old from Moss Point.

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two teens on murder and accessory charges in the shooting death of a 17 year old from Moss Point.

Sheriff John Ledbetter said Michael Todd Ward Jr., 17, of Moss Point, is being held on a murder charge at the Jackson County jail. A second teen, Kenta Derell McCann, 18, is being held on a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.

The investigation began after deputies found the victim, identified as Keontae Dewayne Colbert, 17, dead of a gunshot wound Monday night on Wildwood Road off Highway 63 in the Escatawpa community.

A motive for the killing remains unknown. Both teens remained jailed pending an initial court appearance.
