Two Ukrainians who attacked border guard and stole weapon detained in Romania

Romania detained two men suspected of attacking a Ukrainian border guard in Rakhiv district, Zakarpattya Oblast, said Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), on the national television on May 28.

The attack took place on May 24, at the Mukachevo border guard detachment. The men attacked serviceman, took his weapon and fled to Romania.

“Border guards immediately informed their colleagues on the other side of the border and we were soon informed about the detention of two offenders,” said SBGS spokesman.

According to him, circumstances indicate that they attacked the border guard. Further actions against these individuals are currently being decided.

In addition, spokesman added that the attackers seized a device for firing rubber bullets. The device was found on one of the detainees.

At the same time, journalist Vitaliy Hlahola said that the attackers were 35-year-old Andriy Boyarko and 30-year-old Roman Nezhyzhym from Zaporizhzhya.
