Two vehicle collision involving a semi truck and sedan on highway 278

A two vehicle collision, involving a flatbed semi and a Mazda sedan on highway 278, in front of Pepper Hall, resulted in at least one lane of the busy highway blocked around 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

One of the drivers was trapped and had to be removed from the vehicle. A fire engine, rescue and ladder truck from the Bluffton Township Fire District were on scene at the crash.

At this time, the extent of injuries and whether or not transport was required is unknown, according to the fire district’s spokesperson Stephen Combs.

As of 1:03 p.m., at least one lane of traffic is still blocked while those on scene wait for a tow truck.
