Man, 34, found shot at southeast Wichita apartment complex, police say

A 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being shot Thursday afternoon, Wichita police say.

Officers responded at 1:30 p.m. to a shooting call at the Skyline apartment complex in the 2400 block of South Glendale in southeast Wichita, Wichita police Sgt. Brian Hightower said at the scene.

The man was found inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the leg. He is expected to survive. Police say it is unclear where the shooting actually happened.

Officers said the man has family who lives at the complex, which is near Pawnee and Oliver.

“We don’t believe it happened here (at the apartment complex),” Hightower said. “He came here to call 911.”

It is unknown if the victim was dropped off or got there on his own.

Police are working to find out where the shooting happened. The man was cooperating with police, Hightower said.

Another person was wounded in a separate shooting Thursday morning in the 600 block of North New York.
