Man charged with 1st-degree murder after fatal shooting in Tyendinaga

A 25-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a 43-year-old man was killed in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory early Sunday morning.

Tyendinaga police were called to a home on Deserontyon Drive, just west of Deseronto, Ont., at about 3:20 a.m. for reports of an injured man. OPP were called in to assist with the investigation.

Ken Ferrill, a 43-year-old from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, was shot and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, OPP said in a news release.

Brandon Phillip George Baptiste, 25, of Belleville, Ont., has been charged with first-degree murder, pointing a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He appeared in court Monday in Belleville and was remanded into custody.
