Typhoon Kong-rey hits Taiwan's east coast, leaving at least 1 dead
Typhoon Kong-rey hit Taiwan on Thursday, killing one person and injuring 73, while causing flooding along the east coast and northern parts of the island.
With winds of 184 kph and gusts up to 227 kph, the typhoon led to the suspension of flights, trains, and the closure of offices and schools, displacing 8,600 people.
Before reaching Taiwan, the typhoon passed 110 km off the Philippines, prompting evacuations in northern provinces.
