U.S. Customs and Border Protection rescue five from water over the weekend

Five people in danger of drowning were saved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents over the weekend.

The rescues occurred in two separate incidents, the first of which began on July 8 around 7 p.m. near Erie, Pa.

Agents on patrol saw one person in the water and another jump in to assist. When both people appeared to struggle, the CBP staff pulled them into their boat and escorted the passengers back to the dock with no injuries.

"If it wasn't for the quick action of these Marine Interdiction agents and Border Patrol agents the outcome could have been much worse," wrote Brandon Snader, Director Marine Operations at the Great Lakes Air and Marine Branch in a media release.

Three people in Lake St. Clair were saved the following day when a patrol saw them in the water "frantically waving" as their boat drifted away.
