Will it snow in November? What UK weather forecasters have said
The Met Office gives Yahoo News UK its verdict on how likely it is to snow this month.
The Met Office has said snow remains unlikely in November.
There have been some reports suggesting snow could fall around the middle of the month, but the weather agency said on Monday that this is doubtful because temperatures will be around average.
The Met Office said: "Temperatures will probably be close to or above average overall, and although there might be some colder spells at times, especially in the north, there is no indication of widespread snow at this time."
It added: "Forecasting snow a long way in advance in the UK can be difficult. Small differences in temperature can cause dramatic changes in the forecast. Generally temperatures of 2C or below can bring snow, but a change of just a fraction of a degree can result in rain instead."
What is the Met Office's current forecast for November?
For its long-range forecast covering 8 to 17 November, the Met Office said there will be "patchy rain" and light winds.
Overall, temperatures will be warmer than average for November, though cold nights are possible.
For its forecast covering 18 November to 2 December, the agency said: "After a settled start to November, beyond mid-month there will probably be a change towards more unsettled conditions for a time. This means an increased chance of periods of wet and windy weather for parts of the UK, perhaps more so in central and southern areas."
Even so, temperatures will still be close to or above average, "although some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north".
As we move into November, Yahoo News UK breaks down, using Met Office forecasts, what the weather will be like in regions across the UK over the coming days.
