United Airlines Boeing flight loses wheel on takeoff, makes safe landing
A United Airlines flight landed safely on Monday in Denver, its planned destination, after losing a wheel on takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport, the airline said Monday.
United Flight 1001 reported no injuries on the aircraft or the ground. There were 174 passengers and seven crewmembers aboard.
United Airlines is investigating the cause of the incident, the spokesperson said. The wheel was recovered in Los Angeles.
The aircraft was a Boeing 757-200. A Boeing spokesperson said the company delivered the plane about 30 years ago, in 1994, and ended production of the 757 in 2004.
