ANTIGONISH, N.S. — A university student in Antigonish, N.S., has been fined $1,000 for failing to follow the province's COVID-19 health directives.
RCMP say they received a complaint on Monday about a student from outside Atlantic Canada who was not self-isolating.
New measures announced last week require university and college students entering Nova Scotia from outside Atlantic Canada to undergo COVID-19 testing in addition to self-isolating for 14 days.
Police say an investigation determined the student was in violation of the province's Health Protection Act.
A summary offence ticket was issued Tuesday.
Students from outside Atlantic Canada are required be tested three times during their 14-day isolation period.
