Updated: Person found dead in SC woods. Police are investigating. Here’s what we know

Horry County Police is conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a wooded area in the Longs area.

Police were called to Pint Circle in Longs, SC about 8:31 a.m. Jan. 9, 2025, where they found Lorenzo Evans, 16, deceased in a wooded area, according to police reports and an emailed release from Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

Willard said Evans was believed to have been shot in that area sometime on Jan. 8, 2025.

The case is under investigation with the Horry County Police Department as of Friday morning at 10:45 a.m., according to Willard.

Horry County Police spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said by text that the case is “still very much under investigation.”
