Vaccine distribution struggles are ‘indefensible’

The City of Toronto announced this week that it is partnering with Vaccine Hunters Canada, a volunteer-run group that alerts the public of any available appointments for COVID-19. Vaccine Hunters Canada has been highly effective in assisting Canadians across the country in booking vaccine appointments – but the group also shows how governments have struggled when it comes to communication around the vaccine rollout.

Sean Speer, fellow in residence at the Public Policy Forum, said it is “indefensible” that governments were not adequately prepared for the rollout of vaccines. On this episode of Crisis Management, Speer explains why it is “fundamentally wrong” that Vaccine Hunters Canada is doing a better job than governments at communicating and executing vaccine distribution.
