Vancouver man being investigated after accidentally shooting himself

Motorcyclist, 30, dies in hospital after North York crash

A man is being investigated for possessing a firearm after he accidentally shot himself early Saturday morning.

In a statement, Vancouver Police Department said they responded to a report that a man had collapsed in front of the Maple Hotel at 177 East Hastings St.

A man was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound and taken to hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Investigators later determined his injuries were self-inflicted following the "accidental discharge of a firearm."

Police said they are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the possession of that firearm and that officers could recommend charges be laid pending further investigation.
