Vancouver police asking hit-and-run driver who injured two to come forward

Police are asking the driver who struck two pedestrians on a Vancouver street and fled the scene to do the right thing and come forward.

According to Vancouver police, the incident happened at Fraser Street near East 20th Avenue just after midnight on Monday morning .

Police say a 25-year-old woman from Surrey and a 35-year-old man from Vancouver were hit by a northbound vehicle on Fraser Street.

Both pedestrians were rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The woman has since been released from hospital while the man remains in serious condition.

"We believe the driver should be aware they hit the pedestrians," VPD spokesperson Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a statement.

Police describe the vehicle as a grey or silver Kia Optima hybrid electric car. It is likely to have front-end damage, including a possible cracked headlight on the passenger side.
