Motorcyclist dies in East Vancouver crash

Police are investigating after a serious crash left a motorcyclist dead in East Vancouver on Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at 41st Avenue and Rupert Street just before 7 p.m. PT. The motorcycle and a white Mazda 3 collided near the intersection, police said in a statement.

The 41-year-old motorcycle rider died on scene. The motorcycle was found on its side in the middle of the road several metres away from the victim, and a helmet was seen on the ground nearby.

Police said the 26-year-old driver of the Mazda stayed at the scene and has co-operated with investigators.

"Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be the cause of the collision at this time," police said.
