Vancouver police say a high-risk sex offender who went missing Friday morning is now back in custody.

Tony Okanase, 39, was released from Mountain Institution in Agassiz, B.C., on Friday morning and reported to a halfway house in Vancouver, police said, but then disappeared afterwards.

He was wanted Canada-wide after disappearing from the halfway house.

Police said Saturday evening that a community policing volunteer located him in the city's Joyce-Collingwood neighbourhood in the afternoon.

Okanase was arrested without incident, according to a release.
