Carjacking suspect sought after stealing blue RAV4 with disabled passenger

The search continues for the woman police say is responsible for a violent carjacking in northeast Calgary.

Police say she pointed a gun at a careworker who was in her vehicle outside Marlborough Mall with a client, who has cerebral palsy, around 10 a.m. MT in the 3800 block of Memorial Drive.

The careworker was forced out of the vehicle, and the suspect jumped in and drove off. The woman with cerebral palsy was found nearby unharmed roughly 15 minutes later.

Acting Det. Jack Russell calls it an unusual situation.

"It doesn't happen on a daily basis," he said.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 2007 Toyota RAV4, light-blue in colour with Alberta plates ZSK727.

Police are currently searching nearby roads and checking security tape from the mall.

The suspect is described as white, roughly 30-40 years of age, with brown hair. Police say she was wearing a grey hoodie with a black coat on top and black pants.
