Veterinary medication stolen from Iqaluit animal clinic
Veterinary medications potentially deadly to humans were stolen from an Iqaluit veterinary clinic over the weekend.
The NunaVet Animal Hospital in Apex was broken into sometime Sunday.
The drugs were contained in a safe that was broken into.
Iqaluit RCMP are asking the public to come forward with any information about the drugs.
"If taken by a human it could be a beyond serious situation," said Const. Lurene Dillon, a spokesperson for Nunavut RCMP.
"We need the public to be aware of this because of how serious these types of chemicals and substances
are."
Dillon could not say what types of medication were stolen, only that a few are now missing.
"If they are located, please be very cautious and call us immediately so that we can retrieve these and make sure nobody gets harmed," she said.
Police are investigating the break and enter.
The vet clinic was previously broken into, and its safe containing drugs stolen, last May.
The theft comes after a string of break in enters at a number of Iqaluit businesses earlier in January.
