Video: Jet ski rider's close encounter with tiger shark who got caught on drum line

A jet ski rider had a terrifying close encounter with a tiger shark on August 23 after the massive animal got caught on a drum line. Jonah Cooper was riding the waters around Granite Bay when he saw the “majestic” and “magnificent” creature after the aquatic trap got caught in its mouth. The video shows the shark, approximately 4.5 metres long and larger than his 3.5 metre jet ski, writhing around in the water with the line in its mouth.

According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, the Department of Fisheries said the massive shark was gone by the time the drumline was inspected.

“The shark either released itself or the carcass was removed by an unknown person,” Shark Control Program manager Jess Krause said.
