Video shows driver narrowly missing student getting off school bus in Florida

A video from Florida shows a driver narrowly missing a student after the driver failed to stop for a school bus, police said.

The incident, which happened in Tampa, Florida, on Nov. 21, was shared by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 11. The video shows the car barely missing the student as they were crossing the road to board the bus.

“Drivers, this is a crucial reminder that you must stop when you see a school bus with flashing lights and the stop arm extended. Please stay vigilant and remember the safety of our students depends on it,” the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

According to local news station WFLA, this is the first year camera systems have been installed in area buses to catch offenses like these.
