Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says it's possible the province could close or relocate safe drug injection sites. The Alberta government appointed a panel last summer to look into the socio-economic impacts of safe drug consumption sites on communities and businesses. It has said it would not consider the health benefits or social issues surrounding drug abuse, because there is already enough information on those. Kenney told reporters in Calgary that he has seen the preliminary report from the panel and it reinforces the concerns the government already had. He says neighbourhoods have seen an increase in crime and property damage.
