Anti-Austerity Demonstrations in Venice
Anti-austerity protesters in Venice blocked the entrance to Banca d’Italia on Monday morning, March 2, and also massed on the city’s iconic Rialto Bridge. Dressed in blue jackets and rainbow-coloured hats they rallied against the so-called troika – the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund – which oversees financial aid to certain eurozone countries.
