Astronaut Reads From Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for Towel Day

ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti made her own contribution to Towel Day on May 25 by reading from A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy while hanging upside-down on the International Space Station. Towel Day is marked every May 25 by fans of Douglas Adams, the British author of the Hitchhiker’s Guide, who died in 2001. Towels are “about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have,” according to Adams’s book. Credit: European Space Agency
